CP BAM – Shine Festival

· CP BAM are staging our Shine Festival in the unique outdoor setting of Creswell Crags (just south of Worksop in Nottinghamshire) - an ancient limestone gorge and home to the most northerly rock art found on earth and the oldest art in Britain. Bones found here include mammoth, lion, bear, wolf, hyena, woolly rhino and ice age hunters.

· The Meadows area of the site will be transformed into a hive of school activities split into zones to depict the creative journey - questioning, exploring, identifying, visualising, collaborating, recording, reflecting. With Yurts and special pods being used for activities and shelter - be it from the rain or the sun!
· 24 schools (720 young people) are taking part over 3 days (1-3 Jul - 8 schools/day) in what will be a profiling of CP practice. The all important process not just the end product, showcasing the journey of self discovery young people take to find their talents.
· The 'journey' will begin when an actor will join each school on their bus trip to the Crags. Activities with established CP practitioners will involve the likes of literacy, sculpture, visual arts and media, photography, drama and mask making, weaving, dance and movement, film, music and event management. A film crew will document the week.
· Fri 4 Jul will be a day for teachers, practitioners, other partners and Creative Agents. The day will finish with a performance between 17:00-18:00 of five site-specific narrative dance pieces created by young people. This work will be showcased for VIPs utilising the environment of the gorge and caves.
· Sat 5 Jul noon - 15:00 is a picnic targeted at parents and the wider school community and the general public to share in the success of CP via a series of workshops and a creative talent trail around mini exhibitions of CP work.
· During the week, young people will be working with a local artist to initiate designs for a piece of public art providing a lasting legacy of the festival and the talent of children and young people.
